VALLARTA’S BOTANICAL GARDEN: NOMINATED AS ONE OF THE 10 BEST IN NORTH AMERICA
There is a site in Puerto Vallarta dedicated to the conservation and exhibition of exotic plants from Mexico and the world, which also offers an eco-tourism plan to international travelers: the Botanical Garden, which now competes for another 20 gardens for the Best Garden Award Botanist of North America, thanks to a group of expert panelists from USA Today who chose it.
The Botanical Garden will be participating in the USA Today 10 Best Readers’Choice 2018 that takes place year after year in this media.
Made up of 46 hectares and protected by a civil association in collaboration with the United States, this space is today one of the most important attractions in the region, which is frequently visited by thousands of people a year.
It is located just 30 minutes from the port in the direction of Barra de Navidad. It was founded in 2004, but it was until 2005 that it was opened to the public. Some of the attractions offered are visits and workshops in the gardens, enjoy the wild birds that live there, or cool off in the Horcones River, which is located on the periphery of the place.
The gardens offer 8 hectares of land, with botanical collections of about 3 thousand different species of plants. The gardens are within a unique ecosystem of tropical dry forest at 500 meters above sea level. Here you can enjoy many activities and gardens:
- Palm garden
- Rose Garden
- Grotto of arboreal ferns
- House of orchids
- Trails through the jungle
- Tropical bird watching
- Agave Garden
- Collections of wild flowers of Mexico
- Collection of carnivorous plants
There are guided tours where you will learn more about the place, its plants and history.
Vallarta Botanical Garden is registered with Botanic Gardens Conservation International of Surrey, England and is also a member of the Mexican Orchid Association and is also a non-profit organization.
The garden, for its location and quality, is also of interest to scientists from around the world, some think that many of the plants on display have not yet been fully studied.
It should be noted that impressive orchids are grown in this green area, which attracts tourists who like real contact with nature in their rooms; besides collections of oaks, bromeliads, agaves and wild palms.
The garden is a complete tourist product that invites you to disconnect from the urban; if you still do not visit, include it in your next trip. Do not forget to schedule a visit to this amazing place!
